Tesla Manufacturing Engineers have the important role of designing “The machine that builds the machine”. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce Tesla’s cutting-edge power electronics. This role is located at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, TX. Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and processes to support early-stage prototype builds and scalable production Determine, procure, and qualify all equipment required for manufacturing processes Partner with equipment integrators to design and build tools and fixtures for medium to high-volume production Manage suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment Characterize, validate, and introduce new equipment and fixtures to the production floor Define production layouts for optimal product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency while developing detailed work instructions and training materials Lead process analysis activities including DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling, and provide DFM input to improve manufacturability and yield
