Lucid Motors is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Battery (Module/Pack) to join us at our global headquarters in Newark, CA (relocation assistance available). This exciting opportunity within our Powertrain Advanced Manufacturing division will involve leading the design and tooling review of new high-volume battery manufacturing lines in conjunction with systems integrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, STEM or related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing equipment design. Preference placed towards systems integrator experience.
  • Experience with Battery Manufacturing Equipment Design: Enclosure, Pack, Module, GD&T, CMM, OMM, leak test, adhesive dispense, accelerated curing, Hipot testing, Dielectrics, EOAT, End of line testing (HV/LV), AGVs, ASRS equipment, Vision with automated Fiducial offsets, laser welding, bar code reading, vision system inspection, HV testing, box cutting automation, ASRS.
  • Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic & some international).
  • Deep understanding of AutoCAD, Catia, or other 3D CAD packages. SolidWorks can be suitable replacement based on work history.

Responsibilities

  • Use 3D modeling and simulations to validate equipment and fixture designs.
  • Participate in Design Review Ownership : Ownership of Equipment and Product stack up tolerance analysis.
  • Cross-Functionally Collaborate with Product Design, Beta Team, Advanced Manufacturing, External vendors to drive manufacturing equipment and product tooling reviews
  • Execute Complex Equipment Design : Design and validate designs for automated manufacturing equipment, create 3D CAD models, and lead tooling design reviews to ensure proper equipment functionality and stack up conditions.
  • Work under minimal guidance to identify project criticality and execute necessary tasks for equipment design.
  • Efficiently implement engineering solutions on manufacturing equipment based on product design changes.
  • Bring fundamental understanding of Machine Tool Building mechanical, electrical, controls to build automation equipment from design to buyoff.
