The IBP Planning Sr Manager will lead a team responsible for the strategic balancing phase of the Integrated Business Planning cycle for the Containerboard Mills division. This role will focus on delivering an optimized network supply/demand balance that drives and supports the company's financial, operational, and supply chain objectives. The role is also responsible for performing ad-hoc scenario analysis responding to potential demand and supply variations. The ideal candidate will develop strong collaborative working relationships with Mill Operations, Commercial, Finance, Pricing and Converting Division Supply leadership to ensure an integrated and financially balanced approach to integrated business planning and supply planning. This candidate must be a self-starter, critical thinker, and can build strong consensus among stakeholders. The candidate should have a strong background in supply chain management principles such as production planning, supply/demand planning, mill operations, logistics and inventory management. Lastly, the role will handoff accurate and actionable analysis for strategic alternatives to cross-functional partners ensuring understanding and enabling their ability to execute. This role reports directly to the Director, Containerboard Mills Planning.

  • Manage the overall monthly cadence for the IBP process for Containerboard Mills
  • Collaborate with demand planning, sales, finance, and operations leadership to effectively optimize the containerboard supply network and meet unconstrained demand.
  • Deliver a monthly balanced supply plan with alternatives across a specified demand horizon for the division that meets customer service, inventory and financial targets
  • Update and publish the optimized mill and external supply strategy to be incorporated in the monthly S&OP planning function
  • Lead the monthly IBP Division Supply Review with representatives of all supply functions, to reach consensus on recommended production, external purchases and inventory strategies
  • Ensure current manufacturing strategies and machine capabilities are represented to optimally support the business.
  • Identify potential bottlenecks or excess capacity across the division and make recommendations on how to address
  • Develop and recommend proposals to mitigate supply and cost risk
  • Drive improvements in inventory accuracy and target range as business models change
  • Conduct ad hoc meetings to review outputs with cross-functional teams such as Mill Finance, Mill Ops, Commercial, etc.
  • Review and report all division planning performance metrics (KPIs) and partner with operations to ensure improvement plans are captured and actioned
  • Ensure business excellence is maintained in the supply planning tools, process and outputs
  • Leads divisional strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects related to IBP processes and tools
  • Responsible for the development and management of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive IBP process advancement and improvement
  • Leverage industry best practices and continuous improvements to continually enhance IBP processes.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of supply planning professionals, and focus on talent development for team succession planning

  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering, Supply Chain management, Operational Excellence, Operations Management or Mathematics
  • Minimum 7+ years of supply planning or related experience
  • Proven leadership and coaching success, minimum 3 years
  • Demonstrated understanding of planning and inventory management principles
  • Excellent quantitative analysis and optimization tools
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and negotiation skills
