We are looking for an experienced and collaborative User Experience Designer (individual contributor) who is passionate about understanding user needs and pain points to join our Digital Retail User Experience (UX) team. We are a multi-disciplinary group of professionals with expertise in Design, Content Strategy and Research responsible for crafting delightful mobile, web and desktop experiences that are grounded in empathy and informed by insights and thoughtful planning. We collaborate across the enterprise to build exceptional digital experiences for millions of Schwab clients who are passionate about the tools and experiences we provide, and we create experiences that inspire trust, simplify the complex, demystify investing, and empower our clients to truly own their tomorrow. This design role will support Schwab Retirement Plan Services (SRPS), a leading provider of 401(k) retirement plan services for employers and their employees. Requirements

  • 6 + years of web product design experience, focused on digital products or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of product design experience for touch-based mobile interfaces.
  • An online portfolio showing process and design thinking.
  • Experience with all aspects of a user-centered design process, including user research, developing user flows, creating wireframes, and creating content specifications.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and an Agile development methodology.
  • Experience with accessible design and accessibility testing for solutions.
  • Strong self-management skills, comfortable with substantial responsibility, working directly with our client partners, and capable of managing your project schedules.
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma and Writer.
  • Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Bring products to life through collaboration across the enterprise, designing solutions that delight and satisfy our clients and meet business needs.
  • Influence product design efforts from early discovery to final delivery.
  • Design interactions across desktop, mobile web and native mobile experiences, using product context.
  • Align visual design approach for products, including how aspects like layout, color, spacing and typography impact how the user will interact with the system and how the system should respond.
  • Work within (and potentially contribute to) a design system with full understanding of the overarching structure and implementation methods for patterns and components.
  • Design features for native mobile applications with a deep understanding of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design standards.
  • Create solutions together with a cross-functional Agile team, considering how digital, physical, and service channels work together.
  • Facilitate ideation efforts with a focus on the problem to solve, creating a conversation of 'how might we'.
  • Lead reviews and drive decision-making with the understanding great products are achieved iteratively.
  • Raise potential roadblocks to team or project leads and collaboratively identify how to remove blockers.
  • Lead projects across UX disciplines to create seamless experiences.
  • Work with others on team to estimate project completion based on task completion estimates resource availability.
  • Passionately lean into our solutions-focused and optimistic team, our mission and the needs of our partners and users.
  • Partner across disciplines and functions.
  • Build relationships by creating trust with partners through setting expectations on process/deliverables.
