The Advanced Products Center (APC) Manufacturing Engineering organization is seeking a Product Test Engineering Section Manager to lead a team of skilled RF Product Test Engineers. The Section Manager will collaborate with APC Process Engineering Leads and Factory Managers to drive execution, set goals, and implement improvement strategies. This role focuses on developing technical talent and applying engineering practices throughout the manufacturing lifecycle to deliver top-tier solutions to our customers. RF Product Test Engineers, as part of an integrated product team, work closely with design, process, and test. They maintain production test systems, evaluate daily yields, resolve production issues, and provide operator training. Their efforts ensure timely product deliveries and seamless system integration. The Section Manager will support these engineers, fostering collaboration and efficiency to uphold production quality and performance. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas, ensuring close interaction with the production process and immediate attention to any arising issues.

Requirements

  • Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of prior leadership experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and providing career development direction for staff engineers, as well as coordinating program staffing needs and skills to meet demand.

  • Experience in Test Systems Engineering or equivalent, including test hardware/software development, integration, verification, validation, and maintenance within production/manufacturing environments.
  • Leadership roles with direct reports and talent development experience in a technical environment, with a proven ability to communicate clear expectations and influence teams.
  • Experience with microelectronics manufacturing technology and CORE Champion Certification or above, and/or experience with lean manufacturing, complex problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test, and integration of complex product technologies and systems, with cross-functional experience working across Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Factory, and Program Operations.
  • Experience in management processes and tools such as EACs, Project Management, Risk & Opportunity Management, and Staffing, as well as financial planning, analysis, and cost account management, coupled with excellent organizational, customer service, communication, presentation, and team building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads a team of approximately 12-15 RF Product Test Engineers.
  • Ensures alignment with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) needs, resolving arising issues, and driving the adoption of common and reusable test solutions.
  • Sets meaningful, measurable goals and communicates effectively with the team to ensure alignment with departmental and center objectives.
  • Conducts performance reviews and career development discussions, supports hiring goals, and leads onboarding of new personnel.
  • Spends time in factory areas to directly support manufacturing activities and address issues promptly.
  • Travels as needed to other company facilities, manufacturer/contracting suppliers, and industry conferences.
  • Oversees the verification of RF products, including Transmit-Receive Integrated Modules, supporting product manufacturing and test.
  • Guides the formulation of test verification methods and systems to resolve manufacturing and test issues, driving continuous improvement projects.
  • Monitors manufacturing and test data daily to identify defect trends, collaborating with process and manufacturing engineering to resolve issues.
  • Supports the implementation of necessary electrical design changes, verifying performance of modified circuits and updating corresponding electrical requirements and specifications.
