About The Position

This position is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of all IT Business Development for the SCS Organization. The successful candidate will bridge between Customer, Solutions, Engineering, Operations positions and the SCS IT support organization during the sales process. This resource will lead the IT business development team to design and cost technology solutions in concert with the overall business and IT strategy. Has direct reporting relationship within IT to the Group Director, Partner Relations but will work closely with the Vertical Directors, Sales, Engineers and Solution Managers of the business verticals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, supply chain management, or engineering.
  • Ten (10) years or more experience in sales or business development
  • Five (5) years or more experience in supply chain solutions, logistics, or operations
  • Five (5) years or more experience in marketing preferred
  • Five (5) years or more experience in transportation and distribution management preferred
  • Demonstrated executive level competencies; specifically leadership, communication, partnerships, process and change management into complex/matrix environments, and teamwork
  • Well rounded knowledge of market verticals to facilitate requirements discussion between Ryder customer, Engineering, Operations, and IT development teams; including facilitating discussions around value proposition
  • Strong documentation and communications skills as it relates to business requirements, scope definition, cost, value proposition and negotiations
  • Working knowledge of industry leaders and competitors
  • Demonstrated experience in managing direct reports
  • Candidate must possess strong client facing skills and understand the mechanisms for building strong, long-lasting internal and external customer relationships, including the ability to generate results through influence
  • Ability to manage multiple proposal projects concurrently
  • Market Industry knowledge; expert level.
  • Transportation Management technologies; expert level.
  • Distribution Management technologies; expert level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end Request for Quote Process (RFQ) support. Support includes but is not limited to: conducting a detailed review of RFQ’s, working with Solutions/Engineering/Operations to qualify and document requirements, working with IT Functional teams to clarify requirements and design & document solution response; based on solution design coordinating IT pricing inputs, preparing IT cost model, developing IT value proposition, and facilitating IT Cost Model review and approval. Proposal work is an iterative function and requires strict versioning discipline
  • Manage a team of IT resources in support of the sales process and solution architects that design the technology solution and support the project team during deployments
  • Presentations to potential clients regarding IT capabilities and chosen solutions in support of the sales process
  • Conduct market and competitive research to identify broad business trends and assumptions that may affect business and/or IT strategy and service delivery options. Acts as an advisor to the verticals and sales teams on ways to exploit technology for competitive advantage.
  • Provide leadership with regard to proactive sales and consultation with the business including but not limited to transactional services and strategic initiatives
  • Facilitate and/or participate in special projects as assigned
