About The Position

Under direction of the VP of Tax, the position is responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate income tax laws through the timely and accurate preparation and filing of federal, state and local income tax returns. This role also leads tax/accounting research, supports audit defense, and contributes to broader financial reporting and planning efforts. The manager will oversee a team of tax professionals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain best practices and optimize tax outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5 or more years income tax and accounting experience
  • Ability to exercise discretion
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while dealing with difficult individuals
  • Ability to make independent time-sensitive decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team
  • Advanced deductive reasoning and analytical skills
  • Experience in Microsoft, specifically Excel
  • Experience manipulating and interpreting data
  • Proficient time management skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and Alteryx a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and filing of federal, state and local income tax returns
  • Assist in managing income and other tax audits and inquiries by government authorities
  • Assist with timely and accurate financial reporting and disclosure for all aspects of US GAAP and SEC quarterly and annual tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740
  • Assist in identifying and resolving GAAP technical tax accounting matters as they arise
  • Lead and mentor staff, providing guidance on technical issues and professional development
  • Conduct tax research and provide strategic recommendations to minimize liabilities
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate implications to management
  • Manage technology and processes to ensure efficient and effective data gathering for tax return purposes; develop new policies/procedures as needed for tax compliance; recommend change and where needed to improve processes; maintain concurrent audit-ready workpapers and financial records for all filings
  • Provide review/oversight for all other operating tax compliance requirements
