About The Position

NRG is seeking a Sr. Manager - Structuring and Analytics, Data Center Origination, with exceptional modelling, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills to join our Structuring and Portfolio Management, Data Center Origination Team. The Sr. Manager - Structuring and Analytics, reporting to the Sr. Director, Structuring and Portfolio Management, will be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and performance of commercial valuation models supporting a dynamic pipeline of Data Center opportunities. This role will ensure models are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives, working closely with Sr. Analysts to develop, refine, and validate model assumptions and outputs. The Sr. Manager will also lead the development of business reports and performance metrics that deliver actionable insights and drive strategic decision-making. This high-visibility position will serve as a strategic partner to the Sr. Director and play a critical role in supporting leadership by preparing key meeting materials, delivering actionable insights and recommendations, and ensuring readiness for high-impact engagements and deliverables. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and present complex data in a clear, visual format. The individual must demonstrate urgency, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Success in this position will require excellent project management, time management, and stakeholder engagement skills. The role will collaborate cross-functionally with multiple departments and manage large data sets across complex business models. The Sr. Manager must operate with a strong sense of ownership and urgency, driving continuous improvement in modeling practices and business processes. They will be accountable for delivering timely, high-quality outputs and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. The Sr. Manager will proactively identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field of study
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Energy industry experience with an understanding of electricity market fundamentals
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, driving key business decisions and outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and a solid understanding of financial analysis terminology, application, and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to collaborate efficiently and effectively with project teams across multiple offices
  • Must have outstanding communication and presentation skills and the ability to present complex topics and results in simple to understand terms
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, relationship building, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and prioritize work items based on Return on Investment (ROI)
  • Must possess highly developed organizational and planning skills

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of work experience
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Finance, Economics, or related field) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with varying behind-the-meter (BTM) and micro-grid technologies
  • Understanding of Data Center economics and commercial markets they operate in
  • Familiarity with financial calculations including, but not limited to, IRR, SPB, NPV, CLV
  • Familiarity with SQL queries, including knowledge of relational databases
  • Familiarity with statistical tests including t-test, chi-square, normality, and confidence intervals
  • Experience in building predictive models using multiple modeling methods

Responsibilities

  • Support team deliverables by preparing analysis, reports, insights, and recommendations for the Sr. Director.
  • Build and validate forecasting financial models for varying Data Center inputs, including but not limited to retail obligations, generation development, land, and back-up generation economics to spec.
  • Facilitate Structuring Data Center Load Opportunities according to NRG Business Credit and Risk Policies and internal best practices and controls.
  • Perform trending analysis on projects in-flight and evaluate past projects for financial performance.
  • Lead continued improvement efforts to reduce model results variability, analyze root causes, and drive forecasting improvements.
  • Propose, evaluate, and support the implementation of machine learning and statistical algorithms to support Data Center analytics where applicable.
  • Assist NRG Business team in tracking and quantifying the financial impacts of various market strategies.
  • Prepare summaries of completed models and business cases for leadership.
  • Anticipate the needs of the team, operate with a sense of urgency, and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Document all recurring procedures in concise and clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Develop SOPs and Desktop Instructions to support evolving business needs.
  • Provide Minimal Viable Product (MVP) prototypes for the Commercial Development team to test and deploy new innovative working products.
  • Respond quickly to ad-hoc data requests.
