This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. As part of a hardworking team of software engineers, you are invited to join us as a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering, focused on building Blue Origin’s AI driven automation capabilities for our support teams. In this role, you’ll use your development expertise and Generative AI knowledge to streamline and automate critical workflows, build next generation AI powered agents and chatbots, and automate technical support use cases. You will be joining a newly formed team with an ambitious mission. This team is building agentic software that reinvents the experience of obtaining technology support throughout the company. When engineers need help it will be your software that provides it – in a delightful, accurate, and fast way. This is a high visibility team that will interact with all areas of the company. This is an applied engineering role in which you’ll turn Generative AI potential into real, secure, scalable solutions that power Blue Origin’s mission. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Experience building and scaling teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly document solutions and architectures

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with GenAI and related technologies (e.g. LLMs, RAG, chatbots, and prompt engineering)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; proven ability to deliver results independently and within teams
  • Track record of successful service delivery in a fast-paced, results oriented environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers delivering user facing services across the company
  • Make high-judgement decisions that may affect all employees within the company. You will own your roadmap and the final decision making on timing, priortization, and scheduling.
  • Dive deep and understand all aspects of the services your team builds. We value hands-on, technical leaders who are accountable for driving the success of their teams and services.
  • Hire and develop the best technical talent
  • Define SLAs for your services and scope/deliver the necessary work to meet them
  • Architect, development, and deploy full stack GenAI powered automation solutions across Blue Origin platforms
  • Design and implement advanced chatbots, workflow automations, and AI-powered services to support mission-ready operations.
  • Prototype and integrate new GenAI techniques, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, into production systems
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure automation initiatives deliver tangible value
  • Continuously research and implement emerging GenAI trends to keep our solutions at the forefront of automation
