We are seeking a results-oriented Sr. Manager of Software Engineering to lead SW Integration and Verification for Instrument SW products. This crucial role will be accountable for delivering integrated SW packages into our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products. This leader will drive engineering excellence by developing efficient Integration, scalable automation frameworks, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and strategy to ensure high-quality SW systems and release-ready software delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in integrating complex SW with HW systems, verification testing methodologies, modern automation frameworks, and CI/CD tooling, combined with a passion for coaching technical teams and maturing quality practices across a diverse engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering). Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 years of related experience, with 3-6 years of Management experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in both software development and testing, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in software system integration and verification.
  • Technical Skills: Proven expertise with testing frameworks like MSTest, Mocha, Jest, Selenium, Cypress or similar. Experience with multiple programming languages/environments (e.g. C#/.NET, JavaScript, Python).
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to motivate and influence cross-functional teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success in collaborating in a fast-paced team environment and delivering high-quality software products using established agile development methodologies (such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.) against formal schedules.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to a diverse environment and work effectively in a global team.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-solving: Problem-solving mindset with a data-driven approach.
  • Domain Knowledge: Proven ability to analyze and contribute to software system design.
  • Additional Skills: Required experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity or their equivalents. Required experience designing and implementing software quality patterns and practices (continuous integration, static analysis, unit testing, integration testing)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the Medical or Life Sciences industry is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate has experience integrating software with complex hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of hardware development, medical software, healthcare regulations, cybersecurity best practices, and industry standards is desirable.
  • Experience with NGS and Bioinformatics is a plus.
  • Optional development experience with containers and container platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), developing software solutions on Linux
  • Optional applied experience with AI Tools such as Copilot, Claude.

Responsibilities

  • Integration Strategy: Continuously refine the software integration strategy across a set of software components and sub-systems to efficiently deliver value to multiple hardware instrument product lines.
  • System Design: Evaluate the system design in the context of the integration strategy, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and collaborate with Architects and other technical leaders to drive continuous improvement.
  • Development and Testing: Develop, integrate, and debug software, along with the corresponding CI/CD build pipelines, test environments, and automation infrastructure. Develop tools and services to support the integration and testing process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate and communicate with multiple functions across the organization, drive integration planning with program leads, identify and communicate integration risks and drive mitigations.
  • Monitor and Measure Success: Support monitoring of development progress across teams, escalate risks, and develop ways to improve software integration processes.
  • Manage and Mentor: Manage and develop a team of highly experienced Test and Automation engineers.
