About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead two core engineering teams responsible for our customer data lake, data pipelines, and the customer-facing UX built on top of that data. Our data lake is not just infrastructure — it is the foundation of our product. The quality, freshness, and correctness of data directly power customer workflows, analytics, and product UX. Both teams you’ll lead own end-to-end delivery, from data ingestion and modeling through to the front-end experiences that rely on that data. One team owns our AWS-based data lake and pipelines, ingesting and transforming high-volume customer data. The second team owns synchronization with Snowflake and the product experiences that consume that data. This role requires someone who can work backward from customer use-cases, understand how data shows up in the product, and ensure we deliver customer value through a rock-solid data lake foundation. This is a deeply technical leadership role, but your biggest impact will come from setting direction, aligning teams around customer outcomes, and delivering high-quality systems and UX consistently

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years leading multiple teams or a senior, high-impact team
  • Experience owning data lakes, data pipelines, or distributed data systems
  • Strong experience with AWS-based data pipelines
  • Experience integrating data lakes with Snowflake or similar warehouses
  • Experience leading teams that own both backend systems and frontend UX
  • Technically credible across backend and frontend
  • Customer-minded: consistently works backward from real use-cases
  • Clear, direct communicator who sets strong expectations
  • Comfortable making trade-offs in fast-moving environments
  • Strong planning and prioritization instincts
  • Bias toward automation, testing, and operational excellence
  • Track record of improving delivery predictability while raising the quality bar

Responsibilities

  • LEAD, COACH, AND SCALE TEAMS
  • Lead two experienced engineering teams that own data pipelines and the customer-facing UX built on top of them
  • Set clear expectations around ownership, quality, and delivery across backend and frontend work
  • Build a culture where engineers think end-to-end: from raw data to customer experience
  • Hire and onboard engineers as the teams and scope grow
  • WORK BACKWARD FROM CUSTOMER USE-CASES
  • Partner with our Product and Data Science teams to deeply understand customer problems and workflows
  • Translate customer needs into clear direction for data models, pipelines, and UX
  • Ensure data freshness, correctness, and availability meet the needs of real product use-cases
  • Treat data as a high-value customer feature that directly shapes product UX
  • OWN THE TECHNICAL DIRECTION
  • Own the technical vision for our data lake foundation and data pipelines
  • Guide architecture and design decisions with a focus on:
  • Data correctness, trust, and lineage
  • Scalability and reliability
  • Cost efficiency and performance
  • Long-term maintainability
  • Act as a technical escalation point and design partner for complex system-level decisions
  • DRIVE EXECUTION
  • Own planning, prioritization, and delivery across both teams
  • Break customer-driven initiatives into executable plans with clear milestones
  • Balance UX delivery with foundational data investments
  • Ensure teams deliver on time without compromising quality
  • RAISE THE QUALITY BAR
  • Set expectations for test automation and data validation across pipelines and UX
  • Ensure systems are observable, debuggable, and production-ready
  • Lead incident response and postmortems with a blameless, learning-focused mindset

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and health benefits for eligible full time employees.
  • Additional benefits including 401k matching, and a subsidy for internet or cell phone.
  • Generous PTO days, in addition to paid holidays that incorporate two days to honor and celebrate your heritage, culture, or traditions that matter most to you-- just tell us when!
  • Half Day Summer Fridays!
  • A company actively working to dismantle bias in our hiring practices, foster cultural inclusivity, and continuously examine policies and practices to ensure equity. We recognize and believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion constantly make us better.
  • A fast-paced, team-driven culture that helps you grow your career with learning opportunities, autonomy and ownership, and chances to succeed (or fail-- hey, we’ve all learned through failure).
