We’re looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Software Development to fill this role. The Senior Manager, Software Development at Holland America Line and Seabourn is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and delivery of internally developed shared business facing applications used by Princess, Holland America, Seabourn and HAP Alaska Brands. This role oversees the full portfolio and development roadmap for the Shared Business Applications, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and driving the execution of innovative, scalable, and high-performing experiences. With a strong technical foundation, the Senior Manager defines and implements the appropriate technology architecture, development standards, platforms, frameworks, and languages that support secure and efficient application delivery. The role champions agile methodologies and establishes best practices across the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, branching strategies, source control management, code quality, secure coding, unit testing, and deployment. A key focus is maintaining the health of the codebase through continuous refactoring and proactive management of technical debt, addressing performance, speed, scalability, security, and accessibility. The Senior Manager leads multiple concurrent programs and development teams, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. This includes driving architectural and design reviews, post-mortems, and detailed software specifications to ensure quality and alignment with business outcomes. As a people leader, the Senior Manager builds and develops high-performing teams, delegates effectively, and coaches’ individuals across the performance spectrum to elevate team impact and delivery. Requirements

  • Proven track record of on-time execution, bug free, secure code, and delivery of projects
  • Experienced with Agile Development, preferably Scrum
  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • 8+ years’ experience as a technical leader specifically building and supporting internally built applications.
  • 8+ Years experience hands on knowledge of Domino, APEX, SQL, MS Access / Azure, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and related API integrations
  • 5+ Years VB .Net, and MS Power Platform applications
  • 5+ years of experience managing a combination of both nearshore, offshore and onshore technical resources.
  • 7+ years of project delivery using Agile (Scrum & Kanban)

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio & Roadmap Management
  • Own and execute the Shared Business Applications portfolio and development roadmap across Holland America Line, Seabourn, Princess and HAP Alaska Brands
  • Align all initiatives with brand and Product priorities, strategies, and goals.
  • Prioritize and manage concurrent programs and projects to ensure timely, high-impact delivery.
  • Manage resource allocation, forecast, and cost needed to support roadmap.
  • Technical Strategy & Architecture
  • Define and implement technology direction including architecture, design patterns, platforms, frameworks, and development languages.
  • Lead architectural and design reviews to ensure scalable, secure, and high performing applications
  • Maintain the health of the codebase through continuous refactoring and proactive management of technical debt
  • Agile Delivery & Process Optimization
  • Champion Agile methodologies to drive efficient and iterative product development.
  • Establish and evolve delivery processes, coding standards, and branching strategies across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Ensure frictionless development environments through best practices in source control, secure coding, unit testing, and code quality.
  • Performance & Quality Assurance
  • Define and enforce metrics and standards for application delivery and team performance.
  • Conduct post-mortems and technical reviews to identify improvement opportunities and ensure accountability.
  • Address issues related to speed, scale, security, accessibility, and overall product performance.
  • Implement best practices and method of automation ensuring quality product delivery.
  • Plan and maintain a 24/7 support structure allowing ship and shoreside continuous operation.
