About The Position

The Senior Manager, Retail Store and Donation Center Operations support the efficient operation of retail venues to achieve the triple bottom line objectives: integrating social, economic, and environmental goals into thinking, planning and action to achieve waste diversion objectives, margin contribution goals, and strengthen the culture of serving others. The Senior Manager, Retail Store and Donation Center Operations, acting within the scope of Goodwill Northern New England’s Citizenship Behaviors, drives operational excellence through a relentless commitment to people development and operational excellence and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager, Retail Store and Donation Center Operations is expected to: Drive the timely and effective execution of plans to achieve operational excellence and results in specific stores assigned. Communicate with Regional Director on policies and standard operating procedures needed to achieve operational excellence. Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as Agency policies Assume Store Manager responsibilities during coverage gaps, including oversight of staff, operations and customer service to ensure consistent operational performance. Provide input on retail store SOP and functional training. Support the rollout and implementation of retail initiatives. Provides effective leadership by maintaining an environment that promotes teamwork and maximizes individual potential. Train designated underperforming stores and teams on effective processing of donated goods. Participate in various store footprint and operational optimization projects such as new store setups, existing store remodel, relocation, or closing. Participate in New Goods physical inventory counts and merchandising planning and execution. Provide input on retail store SOP and functional training. Support and mentor specifically assigned retail stores and managers as designated Mentors SMITs and HIPO Store Manager Candidates in their development and functional readiness for a successful transition into the Store and Donation Center Manager role. Analyze store level P&L statements to ensure performance aligns with budgeted targets and financial goals. Monitor key financial metrics—including sales, labor, and operating expenses—to maintain profitability and identify variances. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in business or similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Planning and organizational skills to coordinate and lead assigned tasks to timely and successful completion.
  • Change management: implement process improvements necessary to drive operational results.
  • Financial skills and action-based report analysis: well versed in interpreting and analyzing sales records, financial statements, key performance indicators, resulting in action-based.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills: proficient in interacting with store managers, retail staff, and SVP- Retail Operations.
  • Ability to successfully operate independently with minimal support.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across functional boundaries to deliver results.
  • Driving record that meets Agency standards.
  • Successful completion of a background check that meets Agency standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Prior retail store multi-unit management experience.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Multi-lingual including ASL.
