About The Position

As a Sr. Manager of our Paint Operations team, you will lead and coordinate the daily production activities, set goals for responsiveness, and develop implementation plans. You will be responsible for helping implement new paint infrastructure, process development, and equipment implementation at our new greenfield facility in Georgia. You will also be responsible for supporting production goals by driving process optimization, work standardization, and continuous improvement activities. This opening will be at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Director of Paint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent leadership and education experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Solid understanding of management principles such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and performance management required.
  • Experience within a paint manufacturing environment (Pretreatment/E-coat, Sealer, Primer, Basecoat and Clearcoat).
  • Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing (proto-typing, OEE, equipment selection, DFM, 8D, CAD).
  • Experience building, scaling, and managing a technical team through effective 1:1s, thoughtful feedback, career growth planning, and performance reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for oversight of the qualification, installation, and developing the standard operating procedures of new paint equipment.
  • Works closely with manufacturing production teams, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, and suppliers regarding new product launches and other production or facility needs.
  • Build, scale, and manage a production operations team working on paint automation technologies needed for launching & producing multiple vehicle systems.
  • Leads development of robust standardized work, continuous improvement activities, troubleshooting procedures, and labor processes.
  • Lead and assists in the preparation of Process Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (PFMEA), Process Design Sheets, Process Flow Diagrams, and other Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
  • Review, interpret, and summarize data to establish goals for the team and report KPIs to management for area of responsibility in Paint assembly.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the preventive maintenance and Paint operation budget to ensure compliance with approved expense limitations.
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
  • Fosters a unified culture and facilitates collaboration, cooperation, sharing of information, and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.
