About The Position

Metro is seeking a Senior Manager of Employee and Labor Relations to oversee the daily operations of the Employee and Labor Relations Department. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related field, along with substantial experience in addressing employee issues, managing labor relations, facilitating grievance processes, and conducting investigations. While prior experience in a union environment is highly desired, it is not a strict requirement. In this role, the Senior Manager will lead and document comprehensive and impartial investigations related to employment matters, including employee complaints and compliance with various labor laws such as Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA. The position requires a proactive approach to resolving employee-related issues, fostering positive relationships between SORTA and its employees, and coaching management staff on the collective bargaining agreement and related documents. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for creating and conducting training sessions aimed at enhancing labor and employee management practices, thereby promoting organizational effectiveness and mitigating risks. Additionally, the Senior Manager will assist in the development of policies and procedures, participate in departmental and organizational teams, and manage employee and labor-related agreements. Staying current with employment and labor laws, maintaining confidentiality, and effectively resolving conflicts while upholding organizational values are critical aspects of this position. The Senior Manager will work closely with leaders to identify and address potential employee and labor relations issues, develop preventative measures, and implement strategies that enhance operational efficiencies, employee experience, and retention. The role also involves managing the employee and labor relations case management system to ensure proper data capture and compliance with legal requirements, all while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
