About The Position

The Senior Manager of Communications leads and executes Washington Dental Service (WDS) external communications strategy, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative across the organization. This role is responsible for strengthening and integrating WDS’s value propositions across multiple lines of business, overseeing annual reporting, and shaping proactive messaging related to the organization’s mission, policy priorities, and executive presence. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, the Senior Manager of Communications serves as a strategic advisor and collaborator, helping position WDS as an innovative leader in oral and overall health. The pay range for this position in Western Washington varies between $109,100.00 – $171,200.00, and for Eastern Washington varies between $87,500.00 - $143,800.00. Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Arcora Foundation, Delta Dental of Washington, and TriForza Corp. intends to offer the selected candidate a base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience designing a communications architecture that delivers consistent, reinforcing messages across multiple stakeholder groups, including those with competing interests.
  • Proven ability to translate business strategy into clear, compelling executive-level messaging.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience supporting communications during periods of transformation or organizational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and advise on communications that are equity-centered, inclusive, and informed by cultural and historical context.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Highly effective listener who integrates feedback and perspectives into communication strategies.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to build productive partnerships with internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage confidently with senior executives and Board-level leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own WDS’s enterprise external communications strategy, integrating multiple lines of business into a unified, audience-focused plan.
  • Lead the development of mission-related communications, including the annual Mission Report and updates on partnerships, philanthropy, and charitable giving.
  • Lead, develop, and execute annual reporting initiatives, including Mission and Business reports.
  • Serve as a strategic external communications partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, including executive positioning, thought leadership, and digital presence (e.g., social media, blogs).
  • Collaborate closely with internal communications and marketing partners to distribute content across channels, including public relations, website, social media, and executive materials.
  • Identify executive engagement opportunities and community partnerships, and develop and manage an integrated editorial calendar.
  • Develop and oversee media relations strategies, including agency management, and serve as a media spokesperson when appropriate.
  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal and external communications, using insights to drive continuous improvement and audience engagement.
