About The Position

The Sr Manager, Medical Strategy & Operational Excellence - Global Medical Affairs, Immunology, will support the strategic plan and related initiatives for the Global Medical Immunology therapeutic area. Reporting to the Associate Director, Medical Strategy & Execution (S&E) for Immunology, this role will be part of a team of strategy and execution leads that collaborate to drive consistency across the Global Medical units and support Medical as a strategic cross-functional partner. The Senior Manager will provide project management support for all activities defined in the medical tactical plan, such as internal forums for knowledge sharing, operational execution of Advisory Boards and KME engagements. The incumbent will contribute to creating a framework and structure for monthly and quarterly reports to ensure cross-functional counterparts are informed on Medical Affairs activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Advanced degree in relevant field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the pharma/biotech industry is required.
  • Preference for some medical operations experience and a basic understanding of launch excellence.
  • Experience in project management and/or finance is required, including strategy and long-range planning experience.
  • High attention to detail, strong facilitation skills, and ability to execute in a timely manner is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills, energy and enthusiasm with a positive outlook is required.
  • Strong emotional intelligence (interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills) with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and solid work ethic.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and resourcefulness with a demonstrated ability to work in an accurate manner is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support tactical execution and team accountability - Leverage the team's R&R charter to maintain and manage Smartsheet tools, including dashboard updates.
  • Proactively flag project delays or risks, and support the build-out of the nephrology program's Smartsheet infrastructure.
  • Ensure R&R charter remains updated to reflect team's growth.
  • Provide project management support for Medical Affairs initiatives - Align with the medical tactical plan to ensure timely execution of activities.
  • For key workstreams, this includes pre- and post-event coordination such as agenda development, meeting summaries, and assignment of clear ownership for next steps.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for contractors and vendors - Manage vendor relationships related to Medical Affairs activities, including oversight of SOWs and purchase order (PO) processes.
  • Monitor project spend and financial compliance - Track expenditures against POs, complete timely financial reports (e.g., monthly accruals), and promote budget discipline.
  • Support team members with budget line allocation and onboard new staff on key finance workflows (accruals vs. invoices, PO processes, budget tracking tools, etc.).
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools - Assist in the creation of dashboards and quarterly reports for the VP and WMLT.
  • Track progress against goals and help Medical Directors articulate clear, impactful outcome metrics.
  • Support build of Smartsheet tracking & reporting across all TAs within Global Medical.
  • Maintain knowledge management systems - Oversee and update repositories, websites, and systems such as SharePoint and Synapse.
  • Ensure smooth flow of work items and prompt follow-up when needed.
  • Provide system navigation and compliance support - Offer guidance and training on Biogen platforms to enhance team compliance, efficiency, and impact, as needed.
