About The Position

This position is a hybrid role (4x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California. Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do: Lead & Manage: Build, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers with expertise in sheet metal, plastics, and electro-mechanical assemblies, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability. Drive Product Innovation: Oversee concept development, design, and engineering for new and existing products, with a strong focus on manufacturability, scalability, and cost optimization. Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with product management, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and program management to ensure successful product development and launches. Design Oversight: Guide the execution of designs using CAD, FEA, and simulation tools for structural integrity, tolerance stack-ups, thermal and fatigue performance, and electro-mechanical reliability. DFM/DFA Ownership: Champion Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) best practices for high-volume production in sheet metal stamping, casting, plastic injection molding, and electro-mechanical assemblies. Supplier Engagement: Partner with global suppliers and tooling partners to validate designs, optimize production processes, and resolve technical challenges. Problem Solving & RCA: Lead root cause analysis of manufacturing or field issues, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement. Resource & Budget Management: Define priorities, allocate resources, and manage the engineering development budget to deliver projects on schedule and within cost targets. Executive Reporting: Provide technical and program status updates to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in technical team leadership or management.
  • Proven track record leading engineering teams in sheet metal, plastic injection molding, and electro-mechanical product development.
  • Strong understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes, supplier engagement, and cost-down engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), PDM systems, and simulation/validation methods.
  • Deep knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and industry standards.
  • Strong aptitude in mechanical failure analysis and reliability engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in renewable energy, solar, or industrial equipment industries.
  • Hands-on background in prototyping, pilot runs, and production ramp-up.
  • Familiarity with PLM and collaboration tools such as Arena, Confluence, Miro, and Jira.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence across functions and with senior leadership.
