About The Position

The Senior Manager of Workforce Management & Labor Planning is responsible for designing, governing, and continuously improving enterprise-wide labor forecasting, scheduling, and workforce optimization capabilities across a multi-location organization. This role owns the end-to-end labor planning lifecycle, ensures accurate demand forecasts, optimal staffing levels, and compliant schedules, and serves as the system authority for Workforce Management (WFM) platforms. The role partners closely with Operations, Finance, HR, Technology, and Store/Field Leadership to align labor investments with demand, productivity, and service outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or Operations
  • 10-12+ years of progressive experience in Workforce Management and labor planning, 3+ years in a leadership or senior individual contributor role
  • Expert level knowledge of WFM platforms (e.g., UKG, Reflexis, Blue Yonder, or similar)
  • Forecasting algorithms and drivers
  • Labor standards and productivity models
  • Scheduling rules, constraints, and optimization logic
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) preferred
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations
  • Enterprise thinking with strong operational focus
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Ability to prioritize business requirements over system constraints
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation

Responsibilities

  • Define forecasting, scheduling, and labor optimization methodologies across all locations
  • Establish forecasting and performance benchmarks (e.g., MAPE, bias, schedule accuracy)
  • Analyze labor KPIs e.g., productivity, coverage, forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, labor cost
  • Drive adoption of best-in-class WFM practices across all stores
  • Develop and manage short and long-range labor forecasts using historical data, trends, seasonality, and business drivers
  • Ensure demand models align with operational metrics such as transactions, volume, service levels, and productivity standards
  • Reconcile labor forecasts with budgets while protecting operational feasibility
  • Lead continuous improvement of forecasting accuracy and variance reduction
  • Oversee labor scheduling strategies, customer, and employee experience
  • Ensure schedules comply with all federal, state, and local labor regulations (predictive scheduling, fair workweek, meal/rest rules)
  • Serve as the system owner and subject-matter expert for Workforce Management platform
  • Lead system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations with ERP, POS, Traffic, HR, payroll, finance, and data systems
  • Partner with IT and vendors to resolve defects, improve performance, and scale capabilities
  • Drive change management and adoption of the system
