Job Overview: The Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for the creation and oversight of SEC periodic reporting (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, etc.), involvement in other 1934 Act filings (Proxy) as well as other regulatory filings and matters as needed. In addition, we are seeking an individual that has experience with technical accounting research and is comfortable with creating ad hoc reporting and presentation materials supporting our CEO and CFO, including reviewing investor decks and presentations to the Board of Directors. This role is expected to have strong technical accounting skills and ability to research and apply accounting guidance to new or existing transactions carried out by the Company. This position will take part in special projects, as well as interface with the internal and external auditors to provide audit support as requested. The Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting will be instrumental in the workflow of communication between accounting, finance, legal, and internal/external audit teams and seeking opportunities to refine processes and create efficiencies. This position is based at Leslie’s corporate office in Phoenix, Arizona and reports directly to the VP, Corporate Comptroller.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation required
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC and Sarbanes Oxley, required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant accounting/financial reporting experience, with a preference to individuals who have experience in a financial reporting environment with a listed SEC registrant.
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and independent judgement.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, month end close process; experience preparing SEC filings.
  • Advanced competency in Excel and Microsoft Office suite products (e.g. Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience using ERP and Reporting software.
  • Ability to lead the department in a dynamic environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization, ranging from staff to C-Suite, and the ability to explain accounting concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Possess exceptional analytical, problem identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity to learn about the “whys” of the business and ability to speak to financial information with a general understanding of operational drivers.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles with the initiative to remain current on accounting and other regulatory changes.
  • Detailed focus to maintain complete documentation as required by SOX and company policies.
  • Organizational skills to achieve the above to meet deadlines and agreed-upon timelines.

  • Experience in the documentation, maintenance, and improvement of internal controls as necessary with respect to Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review quarterly/annual financial statements and disclosures for SEC filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.).
  • Perform technical accounting research and document conclusions on complex accounting issues in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Research, document, and assist in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements through an understanding of economics and business purpose.
  • Supports all facets of equity compensation, including RSAs, RSUs, and ESOs.
  • Review financial information included in Investor Relations documents (press releases, investor presentations, etc.).
  • Collaborate with accounting, internal counsel, and other departments.
  • Coordinate and manage audit requests (PBCs) with internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
  • Assist with compliance and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Create and execute on ad hoc reporting and projects as requested.
