The Senior Manager of Finance will support the General Manager of the SAIS Business Unit and will serve as a strategic partner and advisor to the leadership team. This position will report to the Director of Finance, Underseas Systems Division. The Senior Manager of Finance will provide financial planning, program financial management and control services through a professional staff to analyze financial results, assess resource requirements, forecast planning for future growth, while controlling budgets, and generating reports on sales, cost of sales, profits, etc. Position is in Herndon, VA.

  • Partner and consult with the General Manager of the business area and exercise independent judgment and analysis to make decisions impacting profits, working capital, cash flows, and financial position.
  • Analyze, review, and present every facet of the business, including revenue, pricing, forecasting, and take appropriate actions to achieve margin improvement and net profit improvement.
  • Manage overall Estimate of Completions (EACs) and profit impacts.
  • Develop and present various ad hoc analysis and reports required to support Program Management Team and Senior Management.
  • Establish and ensure compliance with financial policies, practices, and procedures at the operating sites.
  • Establish appropriate business controls to engender a results focus in decision making.
  • Manage cash and treasury matters.
  • Ensure solid program and product line financial performance through early identification of operational issues and implementation of containment methods.
  • Bring financial and general management expertise to the division’s leadership team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or closely related discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in general financial management, including general accounting, cost accounting, and taxes, preferably in a commercial manufacturing environment.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or closely related discipline with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in general financial management, including general accounting, cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with Federal Government contracting requirements - Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR), Defense Acquisition Regulations (DAR), and International Transfer of Arms Regulations (ITAR) required.
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office™ package (Microsoft Outlook®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word®, Microsoft PowerPoint®, Microsoft Project®), Hyperion HFM/Planning and SAP ERP software a plus.
  • Detailed understanding of ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customer.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker and experienced at developing plans for short and long-term results.
  • Willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure.
  • Proven ability to interact and influence team members at all organizational levels.
