About The Position

The Senior Manager, Facilities Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers and designers supporting facilities electrical design, electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems, and construction project management. The position will be based out of Tucson Airport Site, Tucson, Arizona, as well as supporting sites in New Mexico (Southwest Region) with occasional opportunities to consult on projects within the West, Central, South East and other regions of RTX.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering (BSEE), BS Architectural Engineer, Power Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of prior relevant experience in building electrical engineering or an advanced degree and seven (7) years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Active Professional Engineering license/registration in Electrical Engineering in the state of Arizona or eligibility to obtain the registration within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • At least five (5) years in building electrical engineering with expertise in High, Medium and Low Voltage rated power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution Systems having multi-frequency ratings (e.g. 60 and 400 HZ).
  • Experience with industrial grounding and bonding design, Lightning Protection Systems per NFPA 780, load calculations, and electrical distribution equipment sizing.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience with construction project management including customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, establishing and updating schedules, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Experience writing clear technical engineering specifications, reports and operating procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SKM Power Tools or related software for short circuit & arc fault analysis, load flow and voltage drop.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Proficiency in reading, printing/plotting, and creating CAD Drawings and construction documents.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, NFPA codes and regulations concerning facilities design/engineering.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency with AutoCad, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project Scheduler.
  • Knowledge of ICD705 physical security requirements for sensitive compartmented buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the facilities Electrical Engineering and design team.
  • Maintain core electrical infrastructure systems including outdoor substations, medium and low voltage power distribution systems, emergency and standby power systems, UPS, 400HZ power converters, fire alarm and fire protection systems, communication systems, grounding and lightning protection systems.
  • Monitor and develop short to mid-term site electrical medium voltage power distribution and infrastructure system planning and future project development, scoping and budgetary cost estimating.
  • Design project load sizing, coordination studies, arch flash analysis and studies, Lightning protection maintenance and studies, development of construction drawings.
  • Develop and lead electrical team for panel schedules, studies, labeling utilizing SKM Power Tools, ETAP or equivalent.
  • Prepare bid documents and electrical construction coordination and administration for office renovations, manufacturing space expansions, laboratory fit-ups and manufacturing equipment installations.
  • Support a project from design, through the bid cycle, construction project management followed by project closeout.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project estimating, project scheduling, design of building electrical systems.
  • Lead team in electrical maintenance and shutdown activities.
  • Review practices, procedures, and processes to improve electrical systems maintenance procedures.
  • Define customer requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) for all projects.
  • Ensure projects are fully commissioned and working properly before turnover to customers.
  • Create and maintain all RTX and Raytheon Corporate EHS&S Standards, Policy requirement and codes.
  • Ensure compliance with all RTX, Raytheon, Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Coordinate Electrical designs with other building design disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, IT, and security.
  • Prepare diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents and construction administration.
  • Meet with customers, develop continuous improvement projects, coordination studies and project management.
  • Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources.
