About The Position

As a Senior Manager in the Sanctions & PEP Data Science team, you will serve as the strategic leader driving PayPal’s global Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) program. In this role, you will lead a team of data scientists and analysts to design, implement, and operationalize advanced PEP detection and monitoring capabilities. You will partner closely with Global Compliance Officers, regional MLROs, engineering, and product teams to translate evolving regulatory requirements into scalable, data-driven frameworks that support PayPal’s global compliance commitments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading others

Nice To Haves

  • Deep understanding of PEP frameworks, customer due diligence requirements, FATF guidance, and global financial crime risk management.
  • Strong technical expertise in Python, SQL, Spark, R, and experience with big data ecosystems (BigQuery, Hadoop).
  • Experience building and deploying risk models, entity resolution, or graph analytics at scale.
  • Proven ability to partner with compliance officers, regulators, MLROs, and cross-functional teams to operationalize regulatory requirements.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to the data science team.
