As the Sr Manager of Data Platforms at First Student, you will lead a global team responsible for advancing the organization's data capabilities and supporting digital transformation initiatives. This role involves managing core data platform technologies, overseeing data governance, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the effective use of data across the enterprise.

  • Enable core data platform technologies for enterprise applications and analytics teams.
  • Lead a global team of data engineers, developers, analysts, and IT SMEs to develop and enhance platform capabilities.
  • Advance the next generation data platform and manage the migration roadmap from legacy systems.
  • Ensure the health, availability, and maintainability of key data platforms, including data warehouses and lakes.
  • Oversee the data platform technology roadmap and address technical debt.
  • Lead data management practices including Master Data Management (MDM) and data governance.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and remove roadblocks for the team.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture on data governance and technology standards.
  • Position the data platform as an internal product and manage demand intake.
  • Develop and manage the budget for IT Data Platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of IT management experience.
  • 7+ years of IT experience in Enterprise Reporting, Analytics, and BI capabilities.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more IT Data Domains.
  • Demonstrated management experience of teams.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and vendor management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience with IT frameworks such as ITIL, PRINCE 2, TQM, Six Sigma, SCRUM.
  • Passion for technology innovation and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into IT activities.
