The Data Engineering Manager is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing data pipelines that support business intelligence and analytics across commercial functions, with the support of a direct team. This role will focus on SQL-based data transformation, ensuring that data from enterprise data warehouses is structured, accessible, and ready for analysis in tools like Power BI. The Data Engineering Manager will work closely with IT, Analytics, and Commercial teams to enable efficient data workflows that drive business insights and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, SQL development, or data pipeline management, preferably in the medical device, medtech, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Expertise in SQL and ETL tools for data transformation and warehouse management.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize data performance for analytics applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with APIs and system integrations for data connectivity.
  • Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data automation.
  • Experience in building scalable data infrastructure for commercial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SQL-based data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from enterprise data warehouses.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure data availability, integrity, and accuracy for business intelligence and analytics applications.
  • Optimize data structures and performance for commercial reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Looker.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Commercial Operations teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Manage and improve data access and governance, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop automated data pipelines to streamline reporting and enable self-service analytics.
  • Support data modeling efforts to enhance analytics capabilities for forecasting, segmentation, and pricing.
  • Identify and implement best practices for data management, warehousing, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, working proactively to resolve issues.
  • Act as a bridge between IT and business users, ensuring that data solutions align with commercial objectives.
