We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions. This position, based in Charleston SC, is part of the Computed Tomography (CT) Research Collaborations team which is a multidisciplinary group of scientists, medical physicists, and engineers who work closely with clinical and scientific leaders at top academic hospitals across North America. Our mission is to help shape the future of Computed Tomography, with a particular focus on photon-counting CT (PCCT) and, increasingly, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), both for workflow automation and for enabling innovative postprocessing applications that bring clinical value. The CT Collaboration team supports CT predevelopment, translation into clinical products, and post-market evaluation. In recent years, the team has taken on significant responsibilities in clinical data collection to accelerate AI development in CT and PCCT, while also contributing to validation efforts for regulatory submissions of CT applications, including those to the FDA. Specifically, for PCCT, the team is tasked with generating clinical evidence in four key clinical areas: Cardiology, Pulmonology, Neurology, and Oncology. An emerging area of focus is the integration of health economics and outcomes research to support value-based healthcare.

  • Co-lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and medical physicists.
  • Foster a high-performance, growth-oriented, and collaborative team culture.
  • Mentor and develop talent across technical and leadership career paths.
  • Attract and retain key talent, balancing early-career energy with experienced depth.
  • Identify and champion research collaborations in clinically impactful CT applications, specially in Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonology and Oncology.
  • Drive collaboration strategies that lead to high-impact scientific publications.
  • Contribute to the global CT innovation roadmap, with focus on clinical outcomes and value-based care.
  • Define, lead, and oversee clinical studies and prototype evaluations, including multicenter trials.
  • Drive collection of robust clinical data to support product development, validation and regulatory submissions (e.g., FDA).
  • Oversee strategic data acquisition initiatives in partnership with hospitals and internal stakeholders (CT BL, DTI, etc).
  • Partner with development teams to ensure alignment between data needs and clinical feasibility.
  • Lead execution of data collection strategies (e.g., protocol design, site engagement, compliance, and quality).
  • Help define and track data volume, quality, and timeline targets for AI and PCCT projects.
  • Support allocation of resources and manage budget across projects.
  • Build, expand, and deepen strategic research collaborations with clinical and academic partners, key opinion leaders, and industry partners to strengthen the company’s scientific credibility.
  • Act as key liaison between collaborators and internal teams (Marketing, Education, Sales, Service, R&D, both in North America but also with our Germany Headquarters).
  • Oversee appropriate compliance, legal, compliance, regulatory and clinical affairs review for all research contracts in accordance to the CT collaboration directive SOP.
  • Provide leadership for collaboration activities by coordinating collaboration managers, monitoring processes, and maintaining strong partnerships with research institutions to fulfill contractual commitments.
  • Navigate and resolve complex situations which can include negotiations around budget, timelines, and partner expectations.
  • Ph.D. in a CT-relevant discipline (e.g., Medical Physics, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering) or equivalent training such as M.D. with experience in Radiology and Medical Imaging research.
  • Minimum four years of experience across medical imaging, clinical research, or product development in the radiology field.
  • Strong prioritization skills; able to balance strategic and operational responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills —tactful, clear, and assertive when necessary.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific evidence & technical literature for diverse audiences, from executives to clinicians & technologists.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, beyond R&D collaborations (i.e. marketing, service, education) and positively influence and interact with different colleagues in the business both in NAM and Germany HQ.
  • Experience with data collection processes and use of data in development of AI-driven applications for clinical use.
