The Sr. Manager, Community Impact Operations provides project management services for the Community Impact Team including planning, researching, organizing, managing, coordinating, and executing activities related to grantmaking, operations, and fundraising to ensure reliable and efficient achievement of project goals. As a member of the Community Impact team, this individual will work closely and collaboratively with other team members and external stakeholders to create seamless organizational alignment with defined community impact capacity building strategies and programs. An ideal candidate would be a highly organized strategic thinker and skilled learner committed to ensuring a high level of leadership, accountability, and effectiveness in project management.

Requirements

  • Previous project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, prior leadership and/or supervisory responsibilities beneficial
  • Advanced project management, strategic planning, change management, business acumen experience
  • Ability to influence without authority

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop comprehensive grantmaking project plan including objectives, strategies, and tactics to meet desired goals, working in partnership with Community Impact team members.
  • Create and manage the grantmaking calendar and activities
  • Provide timely and consistent support to community volunteers, community leaders and partner agencies during grant making, assisting them in accessing applications and navigating grants software
  • Maintain and sustain effective collaborative relationships with grantees across programs ensuring effective partnerships, collaborations, and linkages among and between grantees
  • Collaborates with Research and Evaluation team to create, implement, and manage data collection for all current and future funding streams across United Way footprint
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure the success of grantmaking process (e.g., calendar invites, and monitor survey responses)
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of staff, often under limited direction, and take a leading role in change management initiatives related to project management of the grantmaking and execution process across the organization
  • Project manage key organization-wide events, including The Longest Table and other special United Way initiatives, utilizing strong project management skills to ensure successful execution
  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Initiatives on department-wide initiatives, events, and programs, including facilitating staff meetings and gathering staff input for departmental goals
  • Partner with the Research and Evaluation team to assess the effectiveness of United Way programming and initiatives for continuous quality improvement purposes and funder compliance
  • Represent the United Way of Greater Charlotte on community initiatives and speaking engagements, as requested
  • Foster a continuous learning and improvement culture
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the organization

  • Primary liaison between the project stakeholders
  • Communicates on-going project status, potential issues, and timelines as required
  • Leads and manages the efforts of all key cross-functional departments to perform all project-related activities according to project milestones/timelines in a manner consistent with the applicable process, regulatory and accrediting entities, and ethical business practice
  • Organized and detail-oriented with proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable team member, comfortable with managing change and coaching others
  • Complex program oversight, cross-functional integration, strategic initiative development, organizational process improvement
  • Manage the grantmaking CRM, e-Cimpact.
