About The Position

The Senior Manager, Category & Innovation at Albertsons Companies will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth opportunities within the Own Brands Meat & Seafood Team. This position involves developing and executing category strategies, managing business performance, and leveraging data to influence stakeholders. The role requires collaboration across various teams to commercialize innovation and ensure the success of product offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing, Economics, or Finance required; MBA preferred.
  • 8 years of product innovation management, brand management, or category management experience in a CPG or retail company required.
  • Experience in the Meat or Poultry industry required.
  • Demonstrated success at Senior Manager level with experience managing direct reports.
  • 8 years of experience influencing decision makers.
  • Knowledge of P&L dynamics and category management philosophies with a proven record of success.
  • High level of experience with syndicated data metrics and software (e.g., Circana, Nielsen, Numerator, EYC).
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and application of innovation thinking and the 4Ps of marketing.
  • Ability to analyze and identify insights from quantitative and qualitative data sources.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic, productivity, and ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert organization, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Proven success in storytelling with data through impactful presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive Own Brands strategy and tactical plans for assigned categories, managing performance across the 4 P's.
  • Lead major strategic projects and platforms for category, including innovation and base business.
  • Analyze performance and prepare period and quarterly reports, as well as annual category reviews.
  • Recommend and implement category learnings to meet financial plans and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Enable sales by collaborating cross-functionally to ensure supply, costing, and quality.
  • Utilize category management practices to sell in new items to National Category Directors and Division Merchants.
  • Become an expert on the business through ongoing analysis, trends, and insights.
  • Partner with the National Meat & Seafood Team to identify opportunities and influence implementation of strategies.
  • Leverage shopper insights and market data to identify innovation pipelines.
  • Make strategic recommendations for renovation, activation, or rationalization of products.
  • Develop business rationale supported by data and present to leadership for alignment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the Stage Gate process for product commercialization.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports to support Own Brands initiatives.
