The Raytheon Industry 4.0 (I4.0) team is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager for the Automation Systems Engineering team in support of the Surveillance Consolidated Manufacturing Centers (CMC) in Goleta and El Segundo, CA. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and a proven track record of delivering complex digital & cyber-physical solutions on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Automation Systems Engineers while collaborating across factories/functions to manage a complex network of existing and developing factory automation systems within an Agile framework.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. or minimum of 8 years with an advanced STEM degree in Engineering
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with industrial robots and programing PLC's
  • Experience with industrial vision systems

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills including the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with automation sustainment and/or troubleshooting, including knowledge of electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with deploying complex IIOT based systems
  • Experience with Cognex and/or Keyence vision systems
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML)
  • Professional experience with the full life-cycle product development and integration of automation systems (vision, robotics, servo, controls, etc.)
  • Ignition development experience
  • Python or other scripting experience
  • Data analysis or data analytics experience
  • Good knowledge of safety regulations (e.g. OSHA) and electrical compliances
  • Experience with control systems design (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program and factory customers to identify, develop, and deploy manufacturing automation and digital solutions
  • Support early 'New Product Introduction' activities including Design for Manufacturing engagements to shape Raytheon products and automation solutions
  • Support continuous improvement, upgrades, and sustainment of deployed automation systems using core Automation skills including PLC programming, Robotics programming, Vision programming, HMI programming, SCADA development and controls upgrades
  • Provide technical leadership to full project lifecycle from requirements generation through project execution and into sustainment
  • Responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan, developing and maintaining factory automation/I4.0 roadmaps, and supporting the department’s Product strategies/roadmaps driving common automated solutions, maximizing affordability and speed to market across sectors
  • Responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Establish measurable goals for products, track progress using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and make data-informed adjustments to ensure optimal performance
  • Expected to Travel 25% of the time
