The position involves maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable state, federal, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate reading, verbal and written communication, mathematical, and reasoning skills typically acquired through completion of a high school education.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
  • Two (2) years of general facility maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
  • Coordinates daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Attends departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
  • Performs specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Follows established fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
  • Maintains general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
  • Keeps work area free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to your supervisor immediately.
  • Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored before leaving such areas.
  • Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials.
  • Disposes of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of supply needs.
  • Ensures that the facility and its equipment is properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.
  • Performs routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc.
  • Services heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
