In this position you will be required to work well with engineers, scientists and managers on a daily basis to produce custom machine parts and fixtures to aid in the development of NextGen products. Must be a self-starter, have attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing schedule and workload.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Mastercam to program in 3 axes a must, understanding of G-Code with ability to manually edit when needed, 4 axes programing would be a plus.
  • Ability to operate and set-up machines both manual and CNC’s.
  • Ability to use Solidworks to access and save files. Further ability to use solidworks to make modifications to existing parts or design tools would be great.
  • Computer knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of geometrical tolerances.
  • Ability to resolve problems
  • Understand the concept of Lean Manufacturing, 6s.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical technical drawings.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to operate productively with others.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to minute detail and quality.
  • Initiative, adaptive, and willingness to learn.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Machine custom parts for Engineers and scientists primarily, as well as occasional factory tooling and modification to production components as needed.
  • Programing of Haas VF-2, (3 and 4 Axis), Haas TL 1 lathe on machine programing.
  • Operate manual machines, Bridgeport EZ-Trak-dx, knee mill, manual lathe, band saws and other support/deburring equipment.
  • Selecting appropriate size and sourcing material, independently or working with purchasing.
  • Provide feedback to engineers on alternative materials when applicable.
  • Establishing good working relationships with the engineering, scientists and production teams, to support and provide manufacturing feedback on design changes for manufacturability and cost savings of components, and to help solve manufacturing problems with outside suppliers.
  • Maintain project schedules, plan in a timely effective manner, Identifying risk mitigation, actions, and risks.
  • Assist in the design of fixturing and identifying tooling requirements, material selection.
  • Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
