About The Position

The Sr. Machinist, EDM position at Blue Origin involves processing and programming critical rocket engine components for the BE-7 engine. Requirements

  • Minimum of 20 years in a manufacturing environment with EDM as a priority.
  • Minimum of 10 years in CNC programming with offline software like UG, Esprit, or Master Cam.
  • Minimum of 10 years working with AgieCharmilles EDM machines.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a lead position of skilled workforce.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Extensive experience with Okuma, Fanuc, and other CNC controls.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience machining nickel-based stainless steel alloys, copper, titanium.
  • Tooling and fixture design experience.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse skill levels.
  • Experience machining tight tolerance, high-value components.

Responsibilities

  • Program and set up GF wire and sinking EDM, CNC milling, and lathes.
  • Develop critical machining processes for aerospace and commercial aircraft.
  • Assist in setting up new production work areas, including layouts and tooling.
  • Interface with leadership to prioritize work based on production schedules.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Review work instructions and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Assist in transitioning from development to production with engineering support.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency.
