About The Position

As a pivotal member of the Human Resource Team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Recruitment and Development, the Senior Learning & Development Specialist will leverage expertise in adult learning theory to design, facilitate, and champion exceptional employee learning experiences. This vital role will utilize proven adult learning principles to create engaging course content, dynamic activities, and impactful training materials, empowering our employees to acquire essential new skills and knowledge. Moreover, the L&D Specialist will proactively coordinate and develop resources that significantly enhance the growth and engagement of Reliance, Inc. and its Family of Companies (FOC). By effectively managing knowledge assets and collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), the L&D Specialist will ensure that all learning content and materials are fully aligned with the organization's vision and core values, driving both individual and organizational success. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility to work from home while also fostering collaboration by being in the office up to three times a week.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of instructional design, training, and corporate L&D experience combined.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models and adult learning theories.
  • Experience in training facilitation in both classroom and online settings.
  • Genuine interest in supporting people in their professional and personal development.
  • Innovative thinking is balanced and combined with a focus on customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop learning materials and curricula using various instructional design models.
  • Develop instructor's manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop course content.
  • Define and document learning objectives.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject experts.
  • Create instructional material: courses, curriculum, student guides, or training manuals.
  • Design content to ensure it matches the learners' needs.
  • Ability to procure and create all content, including video, audio, classes, modules, interactive learning tools, and other media.
  • Develop learning paths.
  • Ensure training and development programs are aligned with corporate vision and values.
  • Deliver training sessions in person (classroom-based) or online as needed.
  • Ability to travel to FOC facilities to deliver training.
  • Coordinate and facilitate off-site training events.
  • Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders with training set up including logistical requirements.
  • Nurture relationships with leadership teams and stakeholders to increase cultural awareness and the value of learning.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with FOC and Corporate in executing training.
  • Collaborate with the leadership teams to inform any updates to training and development programs.
  • Managed learning assets, including coordination of technical execution and enhancements.

  • Respond to all training and development inquiries.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with leadership teams to identify and disseminate appropriate training documents.
  • Manage tools and learning materials on the intranet and other Corp e-spaces.
  • Actively monitor and assess training outcomes through detailed progress reports and comprehensive surveys, ensuring that development programs deliver measurable results that align with the desired business impact.
  • Play a key role in pinpointing skill gaps and anticipating future training needs through thorough training needs analysis, helping prepare for tomorrow's challenges.
