About The Position

This role is for a Senior Leader of Strategy & Planning (also referred to as 'Chief of Staff'), and will report directly the VP of Fire TV, Advertising, and Appstore. This role serves as strategic partner to the VP and their executive leadership team, with the primary goal of helping shape the strategy of the organization, and enabling the organization to scale behind its long-term vision. The role blends strategic, programmatic, and operational responsibilities, requiring switching between macro-level strategic thinking and micro-level project management. The role is inherently cross-functional, with significant exposure to senior leaders across the Devices organization. Success in this role means acting as the ‘glue’ that brings together different parts of business and organization. The Fire TV, Advertising, and Appstore organization drives customer and business growth through exceptional entertainment experiences, hardware, apps, and advertising innovation with Fire TV and across Amazon Devices. Requirements

  • 10+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • 7+ years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience driving the strategic planning process at Amazon, including OP1
  • High ownership and is comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity
  • Strong communicator with a structured and methodical approach to solving complex problems
  • Strong ‘learn and be curious’ with a willingness to get involved in any and all areas of the business

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team to translate our vision into strategies, goals, mechanisms, and tactics.
  • Identify and work to resolve areas of strategic misalignment. Proactively engage across business functions and teams to discover areas that may be operating in silos and missing a bigger picture, lack a clear single owner, or lack a cohesive strategy, resulting in missed opportunity for Amazon and/or our customers. Dive in, build context and history, understand the landscape and opportunity, gather data and ideas, document a clear strategy or recommendations, with input from leaders across organizational boundaries, and drive through to cross-org alignment.
  • Drive strategic planning across the organization and ensure critical debates are surfaced and resolved. Shepherd the strategic planning process, from 3YP to OP1 to OP2 to Monthly and Quarterly Reviews.
  • Improve organizational efficiency and leverage. Identify organizational pain points and opportunities, dive deep as required to overhaul existing mechanisms and approaches, and work with leaders to implement self-sustaining solutions with permanent owners.
