About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr Lead Data Engineer / Architect (Azure Digital Data Platform) in United States.
In this role, you will lead the design, migration, and modernization of a large-scale data platform on Azure. You will play a pivotal role in transforming legacy systems to modern cloud-based architectures, enabling scalable and efficient data operations. Working closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams, you will guide data modeling, architecture, and platform best practices. This hands-on position involves both strategic planning and technical execution, including migration to Databricks, implementation of Azure Data Lake, and adoption of Unity Catalog. You will influence key decisions across the data landscape, ensuring reliability, governance, and optimal performance. Operating in a collaborative, remote-first environment, you will shape the future of enterprise data systems while driving innovation and efficiency.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Azure Digital Data Platform, including Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Unity Catalog.
• Proven expertise in data migration projects, especially moving from legacy systems like Teradata to cloud-native platforms.
• Strong background in data modeling, functional modeling, and implementing modern data architecture solutions.
• Ability to engage with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and guide adoption of best practices.
• Hands-on, technically proficient, and capable of leading complex, large-scale migration and modernization projects.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in supply chain or distribution domain data solutions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of legacy data systems (e.g., Teradata) to a modern Azure-based data platform, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
• Architect and implement scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions using Databricks, Azure Data Lake, ADF, and Unity Catalog.
• Drive functional and data modeling initiatives, aligning platform capabilities with business requirements and operational objectives.
• Collaborate with business teams to define best practices, guide modernization strategies, and ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Provide hands-on leadership in data engineering tasks, including platform modernization, performance optimization, and governance.
• Mentor and support junior engineers to elevate technical capabilities across the data team.
