About The Position

The Sr Landman performs advanced land duties with limited supervision, managing a wide range of land assignments of moderate scope and complexity. This position is responsible for coordinating the acquisition of oil and gas leases and overseeing related title work. The Sr Landman demonstrates strong negotiation skills in the development and execution of exploration and development agreements, as well as in acquisitions and divestitures. In addition, this role evaluates complex leases and contracts and provides informed recommendations to support business decisions and strategic objectives.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Familiarity with databases and their functionality
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills to maintain digital files
Ability to multitask on different projects for different team members while being able to prioritize and meet deadlines
Minimum 8-10 years related Petroleum Landman experience

Responsibilities

Negotiate and prepare joint operating agreements, trade agreements, joint ventures, farmouts, term assignments, purchase and sale agreements, pooling agreements, and various other development agreements
Obtain and evaluate drilling and division order title opinions and obtain necessary curative instruments to obtain marketable title
Works closely with Land Analyst in preparing drilling program election letters, well set-ups, operating agreements, pooling consents, assignments, and letter agreements
Provides recommendations and solicitations of 3rd party acquisitions to the development team for review
Collaborates with Lease Analyst to maintain developed and undeveloped leasehold, ensuring critical dates, pertinent provisions and expirations are addressed in a timely manner
Management and negotiation of surface related agreements necessary for the development of oil and gas properties, not limited to SUA’s, ROW’s, SWD’s and surface leases
Communicate to surface landman on an ongoing basis to address and resolve issues with surface owners and operations personnel related to exploration, development, and production activities
May conduct projects and/or act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions, and organizations
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks as time allows
