About The Position

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Sr Java Developer to support their FDIC customer. The ideal candidate should have previous experience working with federal and large commercial clients, financial, insurance and banking clients, with a strong emphasis on user experience, usability, client interaction, customer satisfaction, and a clear understanding of new and emerging technologies. This role involves developing and implementing automated solutions for reporting, VM provisioning, and patching using PowerShell, as well as maintaining comprehensive documentation for system configurations and procedures. The developer will install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, design and manage virtual machines with Microsoft Hyper-V, and apply security best practices. Key responsibilities also include administering Windows services like Active Directory and WSUS, overseeing software deployment and patch management, monitoring server performance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The position requires providing basic administration for Linux servers and managing Cisco/Meraki network devices. Furthermore, the role encompasses developing, upgrading, testing, implementing, and documenting software components of client applications, working independently or within teams throughout the development lifecycle. The Sr Java Developer will communicate with various stakeholders to determine features and requirements, develop application enhancements, troubleshoot issues, adhere to established standards, participate in code reviews, and write/revise documentation. Leadership in development efforts, designing and enforcing architectural standards, and driving stakeholder requirements through all development phases are also critical aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience developing code and managing projects in the required technology.
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen for this position.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a criminal and financial background investigation.
  • Expert knowledge of software tools, platforms, and processes required to support the associated technology tower such as Java, SOA, or other OOA/OOD languages and WebLogic.
  • Experience working as a member of an Agile team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • ETL Specific: Expert knowledge/experience in DataStage scripting.
  • Expert knowledge of databases and related tools and utilities (as applicable above); problem-solving skills and proven record of working well in a team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in analysis, leadership, and communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience developing in an Azure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement automated solutions for reporting, VM provisioning, and patching using PowerShell.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures; create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Install, configure, and maintain mid/large-scale Windows Server environments (100+ servers, Windows Server 2019).
  • Design, deploy, and manage virtual machines and clusters using Microsoft Hyper-V, including host management, storage, and network configuration.
  • Apply Group Policies (GPO) and security best practices to secure both physical and virtual infrastructure, including Hyper-V and Active Directory.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core Windows services such as Active Directory and WSUS.
  • Oversee centralized software deployment, patch management, and asset tracking across Windows and macOS environments using tools such as PDQ Deploy, SCCM, or similar platforms.
  • Monitor and optimize server and network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements throughout the infrastructure.
  • Provide basic administration and troubleshooting for Linux servers as needed.
  • Manage and support Cisco/Meraki cloud and on-premise network devices (switches, routers, wireless access points, security appliances).
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure best practices in systems engineering, security, and compliance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in virtualization, systems management, and cloud integration.
  • Develop, upgrade, test, implement, and document software components of client applications.
  • Work independently and/or within teams throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Communicate with end users, business analysts, and systems analysts to determine features, requirements and solution design.
  • Develop enhancements to suite of applications using leading software principles.
  • Document technical specifications and designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues as needed.
  • Adhere to established design, coding, naming and standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply corrections as required.
  • Adhere to change control processes.
  • Write/revise documentation including operations and user guidelines.
  • Define and document requirements and develop supportable application solutions to automate business processes.
  • Lead development efforts consisting of multiple developers or multi-thread development projects.
  • Collaborate with end users, business analysts, and systems analysts to determine features, requirements and solution design.
  • Design, document, and enforce architectural and design standards.
  • Gather and drive stakeholder requirements and product vision through the planning, analysis, development, and testing phases.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the data, sources of data, and relationships of data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues as needed.
  • Advise others on detailed specifications for translations into structure application programs conforming to established CIOO methodology and standards.
  • Accountable for completion of work on time to meet business performance expectations.
  • Supervise the writing/revision of program documentation, application operational procedures and client user guide in accordance with standards and client needs.
