About The Position

A Senior IT Architect is a data engineering professional specializing in Microsoft Fabric, a comprehensive analytics platform that combines data warehousing, data integration, real-time analytics, and business intelligence. They design, develop, and implement solutions within the Fabric ecosystem, ensuring data is readily available, reliable, and valuable for business users. These solutions will empower clinical, operational, and financial teams to make data-driven decisions. Working within a complex healthcare environment, this role will be responsible for building robust models, and visualizations that integrate multiple data sources, adhere to compliance requirements, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders. The Senior IT Architect will collaborate closely with data architects, analysts, and business users, serving as a technical leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence development, with at least 3 years focused on Power BI in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience working with healthcare data, including familiarity with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech), healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR), and payer/claims data.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, workflows, and architectures within Microsoft Fabric. This includes using components like OneLake, Lakehouse, and SQL analytics endpoints.
  • Design and implement efficient, scalable data models in Power BI using DAX, Power Query (M), and star-schema best practices.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines using Dataflows, Data Factory, and Synapse Pipelines.
  • Transform and prepare data using Lakehouses and Spark notebooks.
  • Build scalable models in Power BI and integrate them into Microsoft Fabric for business reporting.
  • Implement version control.
  • Automate deployment of data pipelines and reports.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting data platform issues, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Monitor and improve performance of datasets and reports through query optimization, incremental refresh, and proper mode selection (Import/DirectQuery).
  • Develop intuitive dashboards, reports, and KPIs tailored to healthcare operational, clinical, and financial needs.
  • Integrate data from electronic health records (EHR), claims, lab systems, and other healthcare applications into unified reporting solutions.
  • Implement and maintain security models, including row-level security (RLS), to protect patient health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable regulations.
  • Work with compliance and security teams to ensure all BI solutions meet healthcare privacy and audit standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate needs into technical solutions, and ensure deliverables align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams on ETL/ELT processes, data governance, and integration workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and analysts on Power BI best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of datasets, reports, and data models.
  • Support the development and enforcement of enterprise BI standards and governance frameworks.
