About The Position

The Sr. IQC Technician will be performing dimensional and visual inspections of purchased parts, assemblies, and products to ensure incoming specifications have been met prior to release to manufacturing and finished goods. This position also involves training and mentoring new employees, as well as performing more complex types of inspections. The role is based onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, with an expected transition to the permanent location in Gilroy, CA facility by April 2026. This is an hourly role with specified hourly ranges.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; A.S. Engineering Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years minimum related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth understanding of inspection techniques and metrology methods.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with Engineers, Purchasing, and Suppliers on inspection/documentation issues.
  • Certification from authorized Zeiss Trainer to operate CMM.
  • Experience managing projects or people is desired but not required.
  • Understanding of SAP and how to process lot transactions.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the use of standard inspection tools and GD&T concepts.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Sampling Plans such as Squeglia Zero Acceptance or ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 and Z1.7 (sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes and variable data).

Responsibilities

  • Train new inspectors and mentor them on how to process lots to release.
  • Perform First Article inspections to qualify tooling and new parts.
  • Stand in for the Supervisor when not present.
  • Attend production and engineering meetings to understand manufacturing and R&D material needs.
  • Prioritize materials that need to be processed for Manufacturing and R&D needs based on reports and meetings.
  • Set-up fixturing and operate Zeiss CMM using Calypso software (desired skill, but not required).
  • Operate more than one CMM and process some non-CMM lots while operating CMM machine (desired but not required).
  • Operate optical comparator and other standard metrology equipment for open set-up inspection.
  • Certified to operate various Vision systems to perform more complex inspections (desired skill, but not required).
  • Interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers regarding GD&T and best practices for measurement correlation.
  • Conduct visual/dimensional inspection of purchased parts materials and assemblies to procedures or specifications and disposition based upon results.
  • Record Inspection results in computer-based software (1Factory).
  • Review Inspection Plans and release them in 1Factory based on required incoming inspection specifications.
  • Create inspection history files and upload to ERP system.
  • Perform inspection on parts/fixtures for the PMC (Calibration Group).
  • Handle materials in accordance with procedures and prevent mix-ups, damage, or other adverse effects.
  • Use company ERP system (Inventory Control) to transact and release materials for production use.
  • Create Non-conforming reports in SAP for parts that fail their incoming specifications.
  • Communicate inspection results to engineers and others when requested.
  • Perform any other projects or duties that may be assigned.
