About The Position

The position supports the Business Innovation team at Xcel Energy, focusing on innovative technology and strategic planning. It involves managing day-to-day processes related to emerging technology assessments and internal communications, including executive briefings. The role can be filled at either a senior or consultant level, depending on the candidate's qualifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years related experience for Sr. Innovation Tech Consultant; 5-7 years for Innovation Tech Consultant.
• Knowledge of existing and relevant energy/utility business and operations technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver to plan.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Strong technical background in Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a related role is preferred for Innovation Tech Consultant.
• Basic knowledge of existing and relevant energy/utility business and operations technologies for Innovation Tech Consultant.

Responsibilities

• Support Business Innovation functions in developing insights about key industry trends and their strategic implications.
• Lead multiple tracks of emerging technology research to evaluate innovative technologies and technology markets.
• Prepare effective strategic communications for executive leadership and technical resources around innovative technology activities.
• Project manage the Emerging Technology technology intake and evaluation process, including publishing and maintaining the Technology Book.
• Coordinate and manage networks of SMEs and third-party entities to support emerging technology evaluation and project development.
• Act as a thought leader for innovation and emerging technologies, responsible for knowledge transfer for technologies and projects.
