About The Position

AWG is looking for a hands‑on individual contributor responsible for implementing and maintaining Azure resources using Terraform and contributing to Azure DevOps (ADO) pipeline work as part of a cross‑functional engineering team. Focusing on delivering secure and repeatable Azure Resources across production, development, test, and DR environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands‑on cloud infrastructure experience with demonstrated Azure work.
  • Deep, practical Terraform experience: modules, state backends, workspaces, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience contributing to Azure DevOps pipelines, YAML, pipeline tasks, and agent pool usage.
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, RBAC, private endpoints, and firewall/service integration.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for pipeline runs, Terraform plan/apply failures, and provider/state issues using logs and telemetry.
  • Experience with secure secret handling in CI/CD and operational runbook creation.
  • Excellent written documentation skills and ability to work effectively as an individual contributor within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and IaC patterns for VMSS, storage accounts, vNets/subnets, private endpoints, firewalls, and other Azure services/resources.
  • Contribute to Azure DevOps pipeline development and maintenance, including YAML pipeline tasks, step definitions, and deployment templates.
  • Support self‑hosted ADO agents and agent pools; assist with agent image creation, capacity planning, and tuning for predictable pipeline throughput.
  • Implement and enforce IaC best practices: module versioning, remote state management and locking, change‑review gates, and pipeline‑driven promotion workflows.
  • Automate environment bootstrap and guardrails for prod, dev, test, and DR subscriptions; maintain subscription and resource group configurations.
  • Integrate deployments with security and operations tooling: secrets management, Defender/endpoint installs, SIEM telemetry, Azure Monitor and deployment alerting.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline and Terraform failures, provider issues, and state conflicts; collaborate with pipeline owners to reduce flakiness and improve reliability.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, module interfaces, naming conventions, and operational runbooks to ensure repeatability and audit readiness.
  • Work cross‑functionally with security, networking, SRE, and application teams to ensure Azure resources meet compliance, connectivity, and performance requirements.
  • Validate post‑deployment state, support rollbacks, and participate in remediation for infrastructure incidents.
