About The Position

The Sr Industrial Network Engineer will provide advanced network engineering expertise for industrial networks across approximately 20 CertainTeed roofing factories in North America. This role is responsible for establishing Industrial Network Standards, conducting assessments, developing gap analyses, and creating roadmaps for network improvements. The engineer will design, implement, and manage factory industrial OT networks, ensuring compliance and reliability while collaborating with central IT/OT teams and factory personnel.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid CCNA certification is required; CCNP certification is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial and business networking equipment.
  • Direct experience with VMware products and solutions.
  • Experience in designing and installing network switch and cabling infrastructure.
  • Research skills into networking issues and products.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Aptitude for learning about industrial HMI and PLC programming/troubleshooting.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi technologies and load balancing.
  • Understanding of dynamic routing and VPN protocols.
  • Experience with packet-level capture and traffic analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD experience for design purposes.
  • Interest in industrial HMI and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced network engineering expertise for industrial networks in roofing factories.
  • Build Industrial Network Standards for factory networks.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of current network states and develop gap analyses.
  • Design and implement solutions for factory industrial OT networks, including servers, switches, and PLCs.
  • Analyze existing network infrastructure to identify weaknesses and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with factories to prepare capital expenditure requests for improvement projects.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation for support, audit, and compliance purposes.
  • Train factory technical resources in network troubleshooting.
  • Act as the first contact for end user technical inquiries and network issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Developers to provide a data structure strategy for ISA95 type infrastructure.
