About The Position

The Senior Imaging Tech in Radiology Diagnostic is responsible for performing complex tasks associated with the operation of radiographic equipment to produce high-quality X-ray images. This role involves producing routine and difficult imaging procedures while maintaining safe radiation practices. The Sr. Imaging Tech acts as a clinical resource for Imaging Techs I & II and other co-workers, providing quality review of work performed as needed. Additionally, the Sr. Imaging Tech assists in department functions in the absence of supervisory personnel and supports other areas of Imaging Services.

Requirements

  • Must have completed an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Two (2) years diagnostic imaging experience.
  • Proficient in all fluoroscopy and specialized exams, including surgery imaging exams.
  • ARRT (R) certification.
  • State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Applies ALARA principles to maintain established radiation safety standards.
  • Collaborates patient’s clinical history with procedure, ensuring documentation is available for licensed independent practitioners.
  • Performs routine and difficult diagnostic imaging procedures as ordered by licensed independent practitioners.
  • Assists licensed independent practitioners with interventional procedures, including time outs according to policy.
  • Completes and verifies accurate informed consents.
  • Performs venipuncture and maintains intravenous access as prescribed.
  • Assists in specialized fluoroscopic radiologic procedures and is proficient in advanced diagnostic imaging.
  • May transport patients and assist in other areas of imaging as needed.
  • Practices aseptic technique and applies universal precautions.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures.
  • Applies patient safety principles during all aspects of radiographic procedures.
  • Proficient with clerical duties, radiology information systems, and PACS.
  • Assists in the care of equipment and maintains supply levels.
  • May assist in the training and orientation of other staff.
  • Assists Supervisor/Lead Tech/Manager with reports and statistics.
  • Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality and completeness.
  • Stays current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and performs BLS as needed.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
