About The Position

The Senior HVAC Technician plays a critical role in supporting Biogen site operations by ensuring HVAC and environmental control systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational requirements. This position performs both preventive and corrective maintenance across a wide range of mechanical systems that support Facilities, Laboratory, and Manufacturing functions. Work Shift Monday – Friday 8-hour shifts, starting at either 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM ET This role participates in an off-hours on-call rotation to ensure continuous operational support Overtime as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional work experience in an industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, or similar environment
  • Previous experience with HVAC-related systems, including but not limited to, air handling units, cold rooms, fume hoods, and refrigeration equipment
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities, including documenting work in a CMMS and using computers for maintenance tracking and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and environmental control systems
  • Ability to work on-site and participate in an on-call rotation
  • This role requires the ability to: Occasionally climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined or mechanical spaces Move, lift, and carry tools, materials, and test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching as required to support facilities maintenance and utility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and environmental control systems to ensure reliability and compliance
  • Diagnose and complete corrective maintenance work orders supporting Facilities, Laboratory, and Manufacturing operations
  • Operate, maintain, and repair systems including VRF systems, air handling units (AHUs), cold rooms, refrigerators/freezers, exhaust fans, fume hoods, laminar flow hoods, and filtration systems
  • Coordinate and oversee contractor and vendor activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards
  • Schedule maintenance activities in manufacturing and laboratory areas to minimize disruption to operations
  • Support start-up, commissioning, and turnover of new HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Recommend spare parts, preventive maintenance procedures, and system improvements for new and existing equipment
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours maintenance coverage as needed
