About The Position

Herman Weissker Power Inc. is a leading company in the construction and engineering industry. We perform engineering & construction work in a variety of market segments. We are headquartered in Los Angeles with business units in LA, Riverside, San Diego and Ventura performing work throughout California. Herman Weissker Power Inc. is searching for a Sr. Human Resources Generalist who will assist in providing a wide range of HR support and advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in HR
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes
  • Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Familiarity with MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent.
  • Four years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred not required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer employee policies
  • Ensure Company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements.
  • Complies will existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) the Department of Labor, Worker Compensation, The occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and so forth.
  • Protects the interest of company and employees in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Administer new employee on boarding and orientation.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work related problems.
  • Provide high-quality advice and service to management on employee relations and performance management issues
  • Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
  • Maintains employee-related databases. Prepares and analyses reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
  • Fully utilizes Human Resources software to the company’s advantage.
  • Offer proactive recruiting assistance
  • Identify ways to improve policies and procedures
  • Prepare termination and severance letters
  • Train and provide support to HR team members
