About The Position

The Sr HR Communications Strategist is an advanced individual contributor role responsible for executing creative development, planning, and strategic delivery of internal and employee-focused external communications. This position requires expertise in internal communications, advanced writing/editing skills, project management, and innovative content creation to engage Valero's workforce and enhance understanding of benefits and programs. The ideal candidate will be a consensus-builder who can initiate strategic messaging and respond to communication needs effectively, while promoting Valero's global brand and culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree required.
  • 5 years of experience in written communications, creative writing, internal or corporate communications, and/or digital communications required.
  • Preferred degree in Strategic Communications, Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Bilingual communications skills preferred.
  • Able and willing to work on-site at the Valero San Antonio location.

Responsibilities

  • Generate clear and innovative ideas that educate, promote, and engage Valero's workforce and global brand.
  • Collaborate with HR Communications manager to execute internal communications initiatives and coordinate cross-department efforts.
  • Provide responsive and professional HR Communications support to HR and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, manage HR content calendars, and facilitate quality communication for HR stakeholders.
  • Advise HR teams on effective options for workforce recruitment and brand promotion.
  • Drive development of creative content for Valero.com/Careers site and manage content updates.
  • Streamline and manage internal communications requests and fulfillment processes.
  • Oversee and create content for internal audiences using visual and written communication strategies.
  • Create clear and concise employee awareness communications and develop bilingual versions as needed.
  • Ensure consistent messaging for employee-facing projects across diverse audiences.
  • Plan and ensure quality HR social media content that meets HR objectives.
  • Manage video and photography projects from pre-production through post-production.
  • Create and manage internal digital billboards content and serve as writer for reports and communications projects.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for Corporate Communications and field HR teams.
  • Provide creative guidance and messaging support for HR Communications team members.
  • Handle production logistics and editing of multimedia content.
  • Develop targeted communications campaigns to align project goals with stakeholder objectives.
  • Provide video and photography post-production support and coordinate with editors.
  • Develop rapid responses for effective crisis communication efforts.
