About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Hotel Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hotel accounting and finance, demonstrating exceptional analytical skills and a thorough understanding of hospitality financial operations. The Senior Hotel Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the Director of Finance in maintaining the financial health of the hotel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems and software (e.g., Opera, Micros, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advance skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to optimize financial performance and cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recording of financial transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on variances between actuals and budgeted figures.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Develop and implement robust internal control procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as directed by senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and accounting standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare necessary reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the hospitality industry.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
