Sr Health Information Management Specialist

About the position

The Senior Health Information Management Specialist is responsible for scanning, indexing, document preparation, electronic health records (EHR), abstracting discrete data, quality assurance, health maintenance, deficiency analysis, and data integrity. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, data privacy laws and health IT systems and plays a crucial role in ensuring that healthcare facilities meet the industry standards for medical record management and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Scanning and indexing health records
• Document preparation for electronic health records (EHR)
• Abstracting discrete data from health records
• Conducting quality assurance on health information
• Maintaining health records and ensuring data integrity
• Performing deficiency analysis on health records

Requirements

• Associate degree in health information management or related field, or 2 additional years of progressive experience in lieu of a degree
• Minimum 3 years of experience in health information management
• Proficiency in using scanning equipment and EHR Systems
• Knowledge of Release of Information Processes
• Familiarity with healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree
• Knowledge with Hyland OnBase Document Management System
• Experience with Hyland Intelligent Medical Record (IMR)
• Familiarity with Epic MyChart Medical Terminology
• RHIT: Registered Health Information Technician certification
