We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr Health Care Trends Manager on our Strategy- Environmental Intelligence team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in social science, health administration, public health, business, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in similar areas strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years experience with healthcare industry trend analysis required.
  • Experience in people management preferred.
  • Strong research skills and experience with analytic techniques required.
  • Broad familiarity with the health care system, physician workforce, and related sectors required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to scope and manage large scale projects.
  • Ability to identify new and innovative approaches to complex issues.
  • Flexibility to develop and deliver effective presentations on short notice to key audiences (AMA councils, Board, Federation organizations, physician groups).
  • Experience actively leading and facilitating discussion groups required.
  • Understanding of governance and policymaking within organized medicine or similar environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Secretary to the Council on Long Range Planning and Development (CLRPD), participating in all CLRPD meetings, providing advice and counsel to the Chair and Vice-Chair before and during meetings, and overseeing all CLRPD activities to enhance Council impact and effectiveness.
  • Actively facilitate substantive Council discussions to help identify and assess implications of key trends and issues.
  • Ensure the Council produces effective policy, recommendations, analysis, governance advice, and informational reports.
  • Work with colleagues in AMA’s Strategic Insights group to contribute toward ongoing trends and market intelligence projects.
  • Where appropriate, leverage internal work products toward enriching the council’s resources and perspectives.
  • Work with AMA governance and legal counsel to ensure Council work products are reviewed for compliance.
  • Research and write reports providing analysis on health care topics, identifying key trends and their implications for AMA stakeholders.
  • Analyze trends, market intelligence, and other data to identify long-term and short-term strategic issues for senior management and Board consideration during strategic planning.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis among AMA councils, sections, and special groups as input for the AMA planning process.
  • Develop and/or provide quality control oversight of all CLRPD work products for the Board of Trustees, House of Delegates, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare CLRPD synthesis of stakeholder analysis findings for transmittal to the Board.
  • Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Responsible for developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development.
  • May include other responsibilities as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range for this position is $102,816-$136,017.
  • Eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
