The Work Lockheed Martin, located in Syracuse, NY, is in search of a motivated Sr Hardware Engineer to support advanced Radar Programs to meet the needs of our DOD and International customers. Day-to-day workload will consist of direct support of program execution and/or proposal support across the portfolio of products and proposals. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for the mechanical design of Radar system equipment including requirements decomposition, concept design, detailed design and analysis, design documentation, procurement support, manufacturing support, test support, and environmental testing Use engineering solid modeling tools to perform design tasks Lead engineering support of Factory Following Drive drafting, review, approval and release in EPDM with Hardware Engineering team Lead and coordinate the refinement, and execution of production improvement efforts Investigate technical issues with Radar components, determine root causes, create solutions and drive implementation Experience within the defense industry is a plus. Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in an integrated product development team. Proficiency with the use of personal computers, including word processing and graphical applications is required. Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Computer Engineering) with minimum of 5 years' professional experience; or 3 years' of professional experience with related Masters degree
  • Experience using 3D solid modeling tools (CREO preferred) to develop and iterate complex hardware designs, cable assemblies and harness layouts.
  • Environmental qualification experience
  • Experience weather proofing (water, humidity) electronic enclosures and cables
  • Candidate must possess excellent communication skills with ability to work with minimal day to day supervision
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to comprehend and work successfully with complex systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading groups of teams for technical execution on programs, and ability to work with program/functional management to meet objectives of entire program
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level.

  • Harness Design – Development of ruggedized wiring harnesses using MIL SPEC wire, shielding, and strain relief methods; ability to produce accurate wire list, harness drawings, and build/verification procedures
  • Specification and integration of fiber optic cables for high bandwidth, EMI immune links; experience with connectorization
  • Demonstrated success in weather proofing enclosures, connectors, and cable bundles for water ingress protection
